The fifth instalment of the Transformers series might be shot in Iceland. According to the entertainment website Screen Daily the producers of the movie are currently exploring locations around Iceland. According to Screen Daily Paramount Pictures are looking at the UK and Iceland as locations for the film.

Icelandic landscapes has previously been used as a backdrop for scenes in the Transformers films. Aerial shots of Iceland were used in the opening scene in the fourth Transformers movie, Age of Extinction. However, Screen Daily argues it is not just the dramatic and majestic scenery in Iceland that is appealing to Paramount Pictures. The studio is apparently also drawn by the very attractive taxes on film production in Iceland. As much as 20% of the production costs of shooting movies or TV shows in Iceland can be repaid in the form of tax rebates.

Filming of the fifth Transformers movie, which will open in theatres in June of next year, will start this summer.
