Market days in Bolungarvík
Markaðshelgin í Bolungarvík (Market Weekend in Bolungarvík) began yesterday and lasts until Sunday.
A golf tournament takes place today and later a parade and a bonfire followed by „brekkusöngur“ led by Hafdís Huld and Alisdair Wright (people gather for a sing along and sing popular songs, old and new). Saturday is „market-day“ which ends on a high note: A concert and dance with the Rokkabillýbandið (The Rockabilly Band).

Rauðisandur festival in Patreksfjörður
The Rauðisandur Music Festival takes place this weekend. The festival takes place on the land of Melanes farm in the Westfjords. The festival is a family friendly event with organized activities such as family yoga. Among those who’ll perform this weekend are some of Iceland’s most popular artists, including Emiliana Torrini, Moses Hightower, Vök, Amabadama, Lay Low and Nolo. Concerts take place in Sjóræningjahúsið (The Pirate House) in Patreksfjörður.

Viking festival in Þingeyri
Dýrafjarðardagar Viking festival is held at a reconstructed stone circle in Haukadalur this weekend. The festival celebrates the area’s Viking heritage and the saga of local Viking Gísli Súrsson. The event is a family friendly one with loads of fun activities for children of all ages, including soap box car racing, a guided tour around historical spots, paintball and picnic.

Tasty dinner in Tjöruhúsið
"Tjöruhúsið restaurant is located in one of the oldest houses in Ísafjörður which is now part of the maritime museum. The restaurant serves fresh, high quality seafood and is renowned for its quirky, laid-back atmosphere.”
