Music festival
Gæran Music Festival takes place in Sauðárkrókur this weekend. The main stage is located in the warehouse of Loðskinn, a local tannery factory.
The line-up this year is rather impressive and includes electronic artist Úlfur Úlfur, hip hop group Reykjavíkurdætur, Sóldögg, Klassart and Kiriyama Family to name only a few. Tickets can be purchased on site.

Glorious Berry Days
The annual music festival Berjadagar (Berry Days) takes place in Ólafsfjörður this weekend. The festival features chamber music from all over the world.

Nordic folk music
The Nordic folk music and dance festival Tradition for Tomorrow starts on Wednesday August 20th. The festival takes place in Akureyri and is organized by the Nordic Committee for Folk Music. Tradition for Tomorrow will commence with a gala show at Hof Cultural Centre at 8.30 pm, where guests can experience an impressive array of Nordic music and dance traditions. From Thursday till Saturday, events range from intimate settings at bars and cafés to large concert- and dance halls.

Taste local micro beer
“I recommend you pay a visit to the brewery and local pub, Bjórsetur Íslands, and go horseback riding and learn a bit about the history of the Icelandic horse at Sögusetur Íslenska hestsins.”
Recommended by Hafdís Arnardóttir, a student of rural tourism and event management at Hólar University, North Iceland.

Good eats
“Akureyri town is full of wonderful cafés and bars. There’s a lovely new café located in the Botanic Garden and there are many more in the city centre.”
Recommended by Sigurður Karl Jóhannsson, owner of restaurants Strikið and Bryggjan
